Troy Arts Council

Serving Troy Alabama and our regional communities

HISTORY

The Troy Arts Council—founded in 1972—has spent over half a century enriching the cultural life of Troy and Pike County. Through a vibrant calendar of visual art exhibitions, theatrical performances, and musical events, the Council has brought world-class artistic experiences to our community. Many of the most memorable and inspiring programs to visit Pike County have been made possible through TAC’s vision and the generosity of its supporters. For more than fifty years, the Troy Arts Council has been a cornerstone of creativity and a trusted outlet for artistic expression, ensuring that the arts remain a dynamic and essential part of life in our region.

VENUES & PRODUCTIONS

Our primary concert venue is Crosby Theater, located in Smith Hall, 483 University Avenue, Troy, AL 36082, on the Troy University campus. Fully ADA-compliant, the theater offers comfortable access for all guests. Convenient parking is available in the adjacent faculty/staff lot, where visitors may park after 5:00 PM on weekdays without concern for ticketing.

This beautiful facility is provided through a longstanding partnership with Troy University, the College of Communication and Fine Arts, and the Office of Student Affairs, reflecting a shared commitment to supporting the arts and arts education in our community.

There is a food court and dining hall within walking distance of the theatre. You can find a campus map here.

There is no box office phone, but tickets are available anytime through this website or at the door on the date of the event 30 minutes prior to curtain time.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The Troy Arts Council (TAC) is best known for presenting world-acclaimed artists in its public concert series. Yet its reach extends far beyond the stage. TAC quietly plays a vital role in arts education and community enrichment throughout Pike County.

Students in local elementary, middle, and high schools frequently enjoy special daytime performances by the same visiting artists who appear on the evening series. TAC also champions local talent, welcoming beloved performers such as Shelia Jackson & Friends and the Southeastern Alabama Community Band, whose concerts remain audience favorites.

TAC’s commitment to the next generation of artists is equally strong. Each year, Jean Lake Art Scholarships and Troy Music Study Club Scholarships, funded in part by TAC, provide crucial support for promising young musicians and visual artists. Local music, drama, and art teachers can also apply for mini-grants to purchase much-needed classroom supplies and equipment—helping stretch limited school budgets.

Even Troy’s signature spring event, TroyFest, traces its roots to TAC’s early initiative, Art in the Park. What began as a modest local show has blossomed—thanks to enduring partnerships with the City of Troy and the Pike County Chamber of Commerce—into a major regional arts festival that draws artists and patrons from across the Southeast.

Through these programs and more, the Troy Arts Council remains a cornerstone of cultural life, ensuring that world-class artistry, educational opportunity, and community celebration continue to thrive in Pike County.
